Flu Vaccination Campaign 2020/2021

We will be holding our Flu Clinics over the next few months. The clinic will be starting on 12th September 2020 for the 65-and-over age group. For patients under the age of 65, the clinic will be starting on 5th October.  Due to the current COVID-19 situation the flu clinic will operate in a slightly different way to previous years to protect our patients and staff

These clinics will be by appointment only. There will be no walk-in clinic this year. We will be calling and booking appointments for patients who are eligible. If you are eligible you can call the surgery to book an appointment.

When attending the surgery for a flu vaccine, please arrive on time but not too early for your appointment. Please ensure you are wearing a mask and observe social distancing. Please wear loose clothing. If you have a fever, continuous cough or loss or change in taste or smell you need to isolate at home for 2 weeks and do not attend the clinic.

This year the flu vaccine is being offered on the NHS to:

  • Adults 65 and over
  • People with certain medical conditions(including children in at-risk groups from 6 months)
  • Pregnant women
  • People living with someone who’s at high risk from coronavirus (on the NHS shielded patient list)
  • Children aged 2 and 3 on 31 August 2020
  • Children in Primary School (Vaccination will be organised in the school)
  • Children in Year 7 (secondary school) (Vaccination will be organised in the school)
  • Frontline health or social care workers

Flu Jabs for patients aged 50 -64

Clinics for the new 2020 cohort of eligible patients aged 50-64, who do not have an ‘at risk condition’ (visit NHS UK) will follow soon. These dates and times will be announced on our website. Please note that people in the 50-64-year old age group will not be vaccinated until November and December, providing there is sufficient vaccine, and no appointments will be offered for this age group until then. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first.  If you are 50-64 and you are in one of the other groups which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from the flu, you will be invited earlier.
